She is a ardent and committed clinician. She says - as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, every woman is special to me. She enjoys being part of the woman’s life journey from adolescence to beyond menopause and sharing her pregnancy and the magical moment of childbirth.
She is passionate about education, research and training. She is a senior lecturer and examiner with the University of Queensland School of Medicine, Australian Medical Council and the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RANZCOG).
After working for a long time with Queensland Health, in full time capacity, she works flexibly and has ventured into Private practice. She also regularly flies to regional and remote areas of Australia. She visits developing countries regularly and give health talks and educate the local doctors. Recently she was part of a Australian medical team to provide care to the Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar.
To serve patients competently and compassionately one has to constantly take steps to improve. To quote from Atul Gawande, Complications: A Surgeon's Notes on an Imperfect Science “No matter what measures are taken, doctors will sometimes falter, and it isn't reasonable to ask that we achieve perfection. What is reasonable is to ask that we never cease to aim for it.”
None of us knows how or when the finish line will rise to meet us, so we should always do good work, serve our patients competently and compassionately and make a positive difference in people's lives.
